Double drum ride-on rollers are a type of heavy-duty compaction equipment used primarily on flat surfaces or surfaces with gradual grading. They are primarily used to prepare surfaces such as new roads and parking lots for asphalt. Once the asphalt has been laid, double drum rollers are applied again to flatten the asphalt. The advantage of double rollers over single drum rollers is their efficiency and power. Combining static power, vibration, and the weight of two steel drums, double drum rollers flatten and press twice the area of single drum rollers. The sheer power and weight of the steel drums make double drum rollers ideal for any heavy-duty asphalt job, including tasks like road maintenance or asphalt repair. Double drum rollers are commonly used for road construction and maintenance projects as well as residential use, like installing asphalt driveways. Since double drum rollers do not have tires, they have zero traction and therefore are not recommended for specialty jobs.
